Beginner’s Guide

Welcome to Bridger WESTERN! This comprehensive guide will take you from a complete beginner to a seasoned player in the wild west.

Character Creation

Choosing Your Alignment

When creating your character, one of the most important decisions is choosing your alignment. There are three options available:

Inlaw Alignment The Inlaw alignment provides spawn points at the main town and digsite areas. This is generally recommended for beginners as it offers easier access to essential NPCs including shops and quest givers. Inlaw players can access the Gun Store, General Store, and other town facilities with minimal travel time. This alignment is ideal for players who want a balanced gameplay experience focused on trading and questing.

Outlaw Alignment Outlaw players spawn at remote camps away from the main population centers. This alignment offers access to more remote farming areas with potentially less competition for resources. However, traveling to town for supplies takes longer. Outlaw is suitable for players who prefer a more solitary gameplay style and don’t mind the extra travel time for shopping.

Vampire Alignment Vampire alignment provides cave spawns with enhanced stat bonuses. However, Vampire players cannot use guns, requiring them to rely on melee weapons and Stand abilities. This creates a unique gameplay challenge with different combat mechanics. The stat bonuses can make Vampire powerful in certain situations, but the inability to use firearms significantly changes combat strategy.

Character Wiping

Important note: you cannot change your character’s gender, name, or appearance after creation without completely wiping your character. This process resets all progress, so choose carefully during character creation. Some players choose to create multiple characters to try different alignments.

Early Game Progression

First Steps

  1. Open Menu: Press M to access your menu and view stats
  2. Summon Mount: Press H to summon your starting mule for transportation
  3. Initial Farming: Kill NPCs near your spawn point to earn initial Moola and XP
  4. Visit Shops: Head to the main town to visit the Gun Store and General Store

First Purchase Priorities

When you first earn enough Moola, prioritize these purchases:

Essential Early Purchases

  • Cowboy Hat for protection

Optional Upgrades

  • Better horse when you have 150+ Moola
  • Additional equipment as needed

Mid-Game Progression

Farming Strategies

Encounter Farming Encounters spawn randomly throughout the map with different rarity levels. The swamp area offers excellent farming opportunities with zombie hordes. Higher population servers may actually have lower encounter spawn rates, so consider farming in quieter servers if you’re having trouble finding encounters.

NPC Farming Kill NPCs near spawn points for consistent Moola and XP gains. Different NPCs drop different items and amounts. Some NPCs are stronger but offer better rewards.

Horse Acquisition

The horse system is crucial for progression:

  • Visit Horse Stables to purchase horses
  • Prices range from 150 to 1500 Moola
  • Pay 20 Moola to reroll for different stats
  • Aim for Legendary or Mythical horses for best bonuses
  • A good horse significantly improves mobility and farming efficiency

Item Collection

Key Items to Farm

  • Corpse Parts: For Stand chances (requires 3+ players)
  • Dogbane Herb: Valuable trade item at Mud Witch
  • Arrows: Essential for bow combat
  • Bait: Required for fishing activities

Advanced Gameplay

Stand Acquisition

Obtaining a Stand is a major milestone:

Primary Method Farm corpse parts by waiting for the yellow beam signal. Hold the corpse part to absorb it, with Stand chance increasing up to 20% depending on server conditions. This method requires patience but is accessible to all players.

Alternative Methods

  • Fish for rare items that can directly award Stands
  • Use Stand Arrows for Stand awakening
  • Some quest rewards may offer Stand fragments

Combat Systems

Gun Combat Most players rely on firearms for combat. Visit the Gun Store regularly to upgrade weapons. Different guns have unique characteristics suited to different playstyles.

Stand Combat Once you obtain a Stand, combat options expand significantly. Each Stand has unique abilities that can turn the tide of battle. Study your Stand’s abilities and practice integrating them into your combat rotation.

Equipment Management

You can only hold three utilities at a time. Be strategic about which items you carry:

  • Fishing rods count as utilities
  • Obtaining new utilities replaces existing ones
  • Choose versatile items that serve multiple purposes
